The gutter is screwed into the back of the table, below the lid.
From the top of the table, the wires are routed through a grommet (a hole drilled in the lid with a grommet collar inserted) to the underside of the lid.
There, the wires can be neatly hidden in the conduit. At the same time, the gutter acts as a lightweight screen to the other side of the desk.
